‘I love you’ thoughts
 (Sherlock meta by lolafiction)

Euros is putting Sherlock to the test with each task. Up front the task involving Molly seems easy- she loves him, everyone knows it, and all Sherlock has to do is get her to say it.

But the problem is that because it’s true, it’s hard for her to say it to him.

So Sherlock tries to approach it from a detective angle- “it’s an experiment, it’s for a case" etc etc. But she’s all like “No Sherlock, I’m sick of your bull shit- if you really want me to say it you have to give me something real back.” He’s always using her, toying with her emotions to help him with his work. But their relationship is beyond that now. Euros knows this too- she heard John say “the one person who saw through your bullshit long ago” or something to that effect. So Molly is all “tell me you love me first and say it like you mean it- you want me to be vulnerable, you need to be vulnerable too.”

Sherlock freaks as does Mycroft because they both know that it’s incredibly hard for Sherlock to say “I love you” and mean it because he has locked away his emotions for his whole life. And he really DOES have to mean it because Molly can see through his bullshit. So he forces it out. But once he’s said it, he’s realised that it’s easy to say it again, because it’s true. Whether he means it in a romantic sense or not it doesn’t matter because it’s true. Sherlock loves Molly and he finally was able to tell her, for her sake.

When Sherlock realises it’s all for nothing he cracks because he just put himself and Molly through all that for nothing. Making him open up, forcing her to say it to him when it was breaking her.

I think Euros knew that Molly was the only one that could get Sherlock to open up emotionally and torture him in that way.
